Barnacle's new permanent Liverpool venue has now fully opened. Located in the absolutely stunning Grade II Listed Victorian Greek Revival former School For The Blind, situated on Hardman Street in The Georgian Quarter.

With a range of beautiful maritime-inspired dishes and cocktails, drawing from the City's heritage as one of the world's biggest ports throughout the 18th, 19th & 20th Centuries.

This is the first time Barnacle will be a stand-alone restaurant. Located in the City’s beautiful upper City Centre, surrounded by exquisite Georgian architecture dating from the 1700s and early 1800s, and situated on Hardman Street.

The Launch Evening offered a selection of taster dishes and cocktails, culminating in Harry Askew giving an appreciative speech, and a toast to his Grandfather, Captain "Barnacle" Bill Askew. They then opened up to welcome the public through the doors.

A special note for the Haddock, and particularly the Guinness Cake, alongside the All Hands On Deck (old-fashioned).

With the bar occupying the East wing of the building and the restaurant on the West wing, the venue is also perfect for pre-show drinks as Liverpool's theatreland sprawls in the surrounding streets.

The name was inspired by Chef Paul Askew's father, and Harry Askew's Grandfather, Captain “Barnacle” Bill Askew, who sailed around the globe working for the Liverpool Vestey family's Blue Star Line shipping company.

Barnacle is owned by the prominent Liverpudlian hospitality family, led by Harry and Chef Paul Askew. The venture prides itself on sourcing as much fresh produce from across the Liverpool Bay Area as possible.

Barnacle originally opened in Duke Street Market in 2021, later expanding to the whole of the Market's Mezzanine area, which even had the pleasure of welcoming global superstars such as Scottish DJ, Calvin Harris, after his show at Creamfields.

The team continued to build upon this success by opening an additional space through a pop-up concept in a maritime shipping container situated in Exchange Flags, located in The Commercial District.

Eventually, Barnacle moved out of both of these spaces, with their progress leading onto a fixed spot in a beautifully vibrant and well-decorated shipping container on the walkways of Salthouse Dock, offering their signature seafood on the Liverpool docklands.

Barnacle's opening this week in a permanent residence of their own, and situated in the immaculate Grade II Listed former School for the Blind Building, now signifies that their years of dedication and hard work is paying off.
