The prominent Liverpudlian hospitality family, led by Harry and Paul Askew, will be soon opening their brand-new Barnacle Restaurant & Bar, which will be launching in Liverpool's Georgian Quarter this Autumn.

This is the first time Barnacle will be a stand-alone restaurant. Located in the City’s beautiful upper City Centre surrounded by exquisite Georgian architecture dating from the 1700s and early 1800s, and situated on Hardman Street.

The bar and lobby will softly open on the weekend commencing on the 27th of September 2025, followed by the grand opening of the restaurant space and the entire ground-floor in October.

Barnacle originally opened in Duke Street Market in 2021, later expanding to the whole of the Market's Mezzanine area, which even had the pleasure of welcoming global superstars such as Scottish DJ, Calvin Harris, after his show at Creamfields.

The team continued to build upon this success by opening an additional space through a pop-up concept in a maritime shipping container situated in Exchange Flags, located in The Commercial District.

Eventually Barnacle moved out of both of these spaces, with their progress leading onto a permanent spot in a beautifully vibrant and well decorated shipping container on the walkways of Salthouse Dock, offering their signature seafood on the Liverpool docklands.

They have a strong track record of celebrating global dishes in a globally significant port city, with much of its produce sourced from the Liverpool Bay Area.

The company’s name, Barnacle, draws from their family heritage. Paul's Father was Captain "Barnacle" Bill Askew, in which he travelled the world working for the Liverpool Vestey family's Blue Star Line shipping company.

Barnacle's announcement today of a permanent residence of their own, in the Grade II listed former School for the Blind Building, now signifies that their years of dedication and hard work is paying off.
