Founder's Harry and Paul Askew and the team at Barnacle Restaurant and Bar are launching their brand-new Summer Menu on Thursday 4th June in Liverpool with an exclusive ticketed event.

As the shoots of the new season grow, Barnacle is ready to embrace its abundance and the new produce it brings. Their forthcoming exquisite Summer Menu, curated by head chef David Alonso, further tells the story of the City’s maritime past in all its glory to the present day.

Barnacle is inspired by Captain Barnacle Bill Askew, Paul’s father and Harry’s grandfather, who sailed the world on the City's very own Blue Star Line. Through founding a permanent home for Barnacle in Liverpool's Georgian Quarter, their restaurant is in his honour, lovingly celebrating Liverpool’s gastronomic history in each course on the menu.

Whilst the full Summer Menu is yet to be revealed, it will feature dishes taking their inspirations from around the world, made with ingredients from local trusted suppliers, all imbued with the spirit of Barnacle Bill’s global travels.

Exceptional flavours from around the world, including Cured Sea Trout inspired by trips to Norway, Kohlrabi redolent of sizzling Argentinian BBQs, and Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb with produce sourced from the Lake District, abound, with many more dishes to come.

The launch event on Thursday the 4th of June is the first opportunity to sample a selection from the new summer menu, featuring five courses and paired fine wines throughout the evening.

Hosted by Harry and Paul, in their very own venue in The Georgian Quarter, the duo will guide guests through Barnacle’s latest creations by plate and glass as they welcome the new season.

The Summer Menu Launch Will Feature:

  • Homemade focaccia with Ibérico crema.

  • Gin cured sea trout, summer root salad, pickled apples, roasted garlic and lemon dressing.

  • Roasted kohlrabi, sweetcorn purée, charred corn, salsa criolla, leaf salad, parsley oil.

  • Herb-crusted rack of lamb, sautéed parsley root, garden pea purée, and minted lamb jus.

  • Trio of desserts, dark chocolate brownie, portokalopita and lime panna cotta.

As part of the summer launch, Barnacle is also launching a new prix-fixe menu available from midday to 4.30pm each day, with select offers from the main menu.

In addition, a new range of snacks will also debut, including cured meat and cheese platters and plenty of tantalising treats to savour in the bar and snug.

Barnacle’s 2-4-1 cocktail offer continues too, with curated classics available Wednesday to Friday from 4pm – 7pm.

Barnacle's Restaurant Director, Harry Askew, said: “As we look ahead to the new season, it’s with immense pride we now reveal our summer plans. Working locally with a range of amazing independent suppliers, our menus are informed by what grows around us, with sustainability and seasonality at the heart of all we do at Barnacle.”

Harry added: “We couldn’t be prouder to help tell Liverpool’s story as a globally iconic port city, one which over the centuries has had so many ingredients, cultures and flavours pass through or take root here. That’s what Barnacle is about, inspired by my granddad Barnacle Bill – we’re celebrating his travels and how this helped to inspire my dad into being a chef, to the city’s gastronomic evolution through every dish we serve here.”

There will be a Terrace launch event later in June too, with more details coming soon. Tickets for the launch event are available through Barnacle's website.
