Dereks & Wongs Collaborate For A Delicious Chinese New Year Sandwich Special

Wongs Jewellers and Derek’s are coming together this February to celebrate Chinese New Year in true Liverpool style, with the launch of a limited-edition sandwich that blends bold Asian flavours with classic Scouse creativity.
Having launched on Chinese New Year, the 17th of February, the collaboration introduces “Mr Wong”, a flavour-packed creation available exclusively at Derek's through to Monday the 3rd of March.
The Mr Wong sandwich features crispy ginger and garlic chicken tossed in crispy chilli oil, coated in a sticky orange glaze, and layered with pickled daikon and red onion, shredded lettuce, and is also available with a side of traditional siu mai. It is a vibrant, celebratory nod to the Year of the Horse and a true fusion of two much-loved Liverpool brands.
This fun and flavourful partnership brings together two iconic city businesses: Wongs Jewellers, a cornerstone of Liverpool’s jewellery scene for decades, and Derek’s, known for its creative, crowd-pleasing sandwiches and loyal following.
“It’s a privilege for us to partner with a Liverpool institution like Wongs, working with Mr Wong on this project and watching the passion and dedication he puts into his craft has been amazing, a true inspiration for a young business like us!” - Ethan Woodroofe, Co-Founder of Derek’s.
Derek’s shared a teaser video with their followers, which has generated an overwhelming response of positivity and excitement, which truly shows the community spirit Liverpool is famous for.
Cynthia Cartwright, Commercial Director from Wongs Jewellers, said: “Chinese New Year is such a special time for us, and we wanted to celebrate it in a way that brings the community together. Partnering with Derek’s has allowed us to do something completely different, fun and full of flavour. ‘Mr Wong’ perfectly captures that spirit.”

To mark the collaboration, customers will also have the chance to win an exclusive prize bundle, including a bespoke pendant from Wongs Jewellers and Derek’s merchandise. Details on how to enter will be available in store and across both brands’ social media channels.

The Mr Wong sandwich will be available from the 17th of February through to Monday the 3rd of March only. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.
