Royal Albert Dock Celebrates Lunar New Year

The Royal Albert Dock is inviting families to celebrate the Lunar New Year from the 16th to the 20th of February with free, child-friendly arts and crafts workshops in collaboration with Culture Liverpool.
The three workshops, hosted across PANAM, Fab4 Cafe, and Revolution, let children explore traditional Lunar New Year themes, colours, and creative techniques.
Fab4 Cafe (10am–2:30pm):
Children can create and hand-decorate a mobile horse puppet to celebrate the Year of the Horse with Unusual Art.
Revolution (12pm–5pm):
Children can make ‘photogram’ cyanotype sunprints, bookmarks, or bunting, or build pinhole viewers to explore the world upside down, introducing basic physics while encouraging curiosity, with Little Vintage Photography.
PANAM (12pm–5pm):
Children can craft a Chinese horse head while learning about the horse’s symbolism of strength, freedom, and perseverance through storytelling and imaginative play, with Dora Colquhoun.

These workshops form part of a wider half-term programme, which includes two large-scale dragon installations at Salthouse Bridge, a special Dock Shorts animation, and fire shows by Bring the Fire projected onto the Maritime Museum.
These will feature freestyle performances from eight fire artists and a live drumming soundtrack by Wirral Drummers.
Whether stopping for a quick bite or enjoying a meal between events, families will find plenty of menus at the dock.
Savour Lunar New Year-inspired specials at Lunyalita, including Peking Duck Croquetas and Singapore Noodle Fideua, alongside a dedicated children’s menu where kids eat free.

Little ones can also make their own pizza at Gusto, create a mini Thai feast at Rosa’s Thai, dig into a seedlings menu at The Botanist, and more.
