Over 70,800 people in the UK are living with Young-Onset Dementia, with a form of Early-Onset Dementia, when symptoms develop before the age of 65.

“John was a huge Liverpool FC fan. One of the greatest memories we have of him is the night they won the Champions League in Istanbul”. - Tim and Stuart who are raising money in their friend's memory.

They are doing all of this in loving memory of their much-missed friend John Rowlands from Moreton, on the Wirral, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the age of 39, and passed away at the age of 44.

Tim and Stuart, who are making the more than 2,000-mile journey and are close to concluding their continent-spanning ride, said: “John was a huge Liverpool FC fan. One of the greatest memories we have of him is the night they won the Champions League in Istanbul - what went on to be known as 'The Road to Istanbul'. We will be attempting to cycle from Istanbul to John's resting place in Liverpool in just 30 days.”

They said: “That's 3,500km in 30 days, through 10 different countries. We're not cyclists. It's a crazy idea that I came up with in the pub one day. It's now all very real and quite daunting.”

They added: “Please sponsor us and help us raise as much money as possible for the unbelievable work that Alzheimer's Society do. They are the UK's largest dementia charity and vow to help end the devastation caused by Dementia, through support and research.”

If you want to sponsor their cause to raise money and awareness for young-onset Alzheimer's Disease, you can do so through The Road From Istanbul's JustGiving page.
