Speaking over the phone to American Musician & Actor, Tyson Kelly, we got to know each other for a little while, in which he made a good old cup of tea before starting the interview.

He is known for playing the role of John Lennon across a wealth of shows, including on tours, as a member of the Bootleg Beatles, and in ‘Let It Be’ on Broadway in New York City, and now with his own original show, 'Imagine Lennon'.

He performed last night at The Tung Auditorium in the Yoko Ono Lennon Centre, situated in The Knowledge Quarter of Liverpool City Centre, for his sold-out show of ‘Imagine Lennon’ as part of a UK Tour. The even marked what would have been John Lennon’s 85th Birthday, on the 9th of October. Tyson is taking the show to London next, for two nights of shows in the British Capital.

Tyson Kelly's original ‘Imagine Lennon’ show was an absolute blast. A collection of handpicked songs from the classics that everyone will know, to plenty that will act as an introduction to his deeper collection of spellbinding music.

His ensemble 4-piece band from Leeds (5-piece including Tyson), performed in a thoroughly enjoyable harmony with Kelly's excellent Lennon performance. There was a total of 5 of them on stage, and at times when appropriate  various members of the group (or all of them), apart from Tyson, would leave the stage to enable for a focus to be on some of the more intimate Lennon songs being performed.

Several short segments throughout the show were dedicated to Ringo’s songs, which were sung and performed by the drummer, which I persoanlly loved, as I often find he is a greatly unappreciated Beatle.

There are plans for ‘Imagine Lennon’ to return to the UK next April, so if you haven't had the chance to experience it, Tyson and his authentic interpretation of John Lennon will return next year in 2026.
