Combining Live Music, Networking & Creative Exhibits, ZEEN Collective Are Offering An Inspired Approach To Both Gigs & Meeting New People In The Creative Industries
We were invited along to ZEEN Collective's busy first event. The night infused a gig with 3 bands playing alongside an earlier networking event and exhibit as part of the evening, which was complimented by an acoustic performance during these times.
It is a really interesting concept that works well in EBGBs underground myriad of passageways of exposed brick walls, something which was carefully considered and that ZEEN had envisioned when planning the multifaceted event.
Upon entry the venue splits off into two thoroughfares that lead to separate yet intertwined areas. The right side of the venue houses a bar and the stage, with the left side of the venue being home to another bar, alongside plenty of seating and standing tables for the networking and merch drops to happen — in addition to the atmospheric exhibit showcasing a photographers works, this exhibit focused on the work of Jonseys Shots, with new photographers being chosen for each event.
ZEEN Collective is led by Maya Leaning who runs MAYMAY and Madeleine Pedley who runs MADz Events, forming a team that will curate these events on a monthly basis with the aim to bring an innovative approach to events in the Liverpool City Region Music Scene.
The event blends three distinct components that would normally be the focus of three seperate events; a live music gig, a networking event and an exhibit. ZEEN's event was really enjoyable, with the benefit of encouraging collaboration between all creatives involved in this brilliant and exciting industry.
Implementing the no headliners concept also worked well with a good crowd sticking around to enjoy all three bands. ZEEN welcomed to the Liverpool City Region a great lineup of talent including Swansea's Motel Thieves, Newcastle's Ceramic, and the Liverpool-based Tender Claws.
In addition to all of this, the earlier portion of the evening gave ticketholders the opportunity for viewings of the exhibit as well beginning the chance to start networking. This was accompanied by an acoustic set from local singer, Chris Bell.
