The event date is Sunday the 15th of March 2026. The day also features the BTR 10 Mile Road Race, which sold out two weeks ago at 500 entries.

A waiting list is now open through the BTR website in the event of additional general entry places being made available.

First staged in 1994, it is one of the longest-established premier road races in the region, and is a real highlight in the North West running calendar.

The BTR Liverpool Half Marathon 2025 was the biggest ever. It sold out two months before race day at 12,000 places – a massive jump from 9,000 entries in 2024.

“I’d also encourage anyone who missed out to register on the BTR website in case we can release additional places further down the line.” - Alan Rothwell, BTR Race Director.

Only last weekend BTR Liverpool hosted the iconic Liverpool Santa Dash which attracted over 11,000 entries – a huge increase from 8,500 Santas in 2024. It is the biggest festive 5K fun run in the UK, and often regarded as the official kick-start to Christmas in the city.

While all 12,000 places across both the half-marathon and 10-mile races have sold out, BTR Liverpool is inviting runners who missed out on the opportunity to register their interest in case additional places can be released.

A limited number of guaranteed entry charity places are also available.

Full details can be found on the BTR website at the Half Marathon webpage.

The BTR Liverpool Half Marathon event boosts the local economy through hospitality and tourism sectors across the race weekend, including bars, restaurants, hotels, retail, and attractions.

The event attracts runners globally as well as others from across the country. Earlier this year, runners took part visiting from Argentina, Chile, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain, and the USA.

Alan Rothwell, BTR Race Director, commented: “When we sold out two months ahead of the Liverpool Half Marathon earlier this year it brought an added level of excitement and anticipation across the running community.

He added: “Now 12,000 places have sold out in record time... Thank you to everyone who signed up and is joining us on 15 March. The only way now to guarantee a place is to support one of the BTR charities who have limited entries.

Alan, said: “I’d also encourage anyone who missed out to register on the BTR website in case we can release additional places further down the line.

He said: “The BTR Liverpool Half Marathon is a real highlight in the race calendar – not just in the North West but now in the country. People don’t just see it as a race, it’s an experience. A chance to see Liverpool through running, take in the sights, and embrace the welcoming atmosphere – pulling on their trainers for 13.1 miles of making memories in Liverpool.”
