Pete McGovern wrote the original rendition of In My Liverpool Home, a song that I hold close to my heart. The song has been adapted and changed many times over the years and the verion that became most popular was when local Liverpudlian folk band, The Spinners, recorded it.

Pete McGovern was born down by the docks in the City of Liverpool and after both of his parents came to the city from Ireland. Pete was a His granddaughter, Alison McGovern, has gone on to become a local Labour MP in the Borough of Wirral for the Wirral South ward since the General Election in 2010 and has held the position since.
