CITY OF LIVERPOOL, LIVERPOOL CITY REGION.
603 Guitarists Raise The Roof At Mountford Hall, Creating An Unforgettable & Inspiring Evening Of Music, Unity & Fundraising; However, There’s Still More To Do To Save The Florrie’s Community Classes & Keep Them Free For Everyone

The Big Guitar-In last night in Liverpool raised the roof at Mountford Hall in truly spectacular style.
603 guitarists united to strum their way to a new record, beating last year’s gathering of 602 to create a wonderful evening of live music and fundraising for The Florrie.
The Big Guitar In’s goal is to keep raising essential funds to save The Florrie’s Community Classes and keep them free. Whilst the event has again been a huge success, taking place for the 5th time in Liverpool, donations are urgently needed.
100s of amazing guitarists performed together, including young up-and-coming Liverpudlian stars of the future, from Olga Fitz, Louis Gibney, Credits and The Sway, to the City's luminaries such as Space, CrowdedScouse and Brian Nash (from Frankie Goes to Hollywood), and an extra surprise special guest, Scouse icon, Jamie Webster.
Uniting so many guitarists and performers with this singular vision is no mean feat, and many participants have honed their skills, and all contributed to the community found at The Florrie’s weekly guitar classes.

Timo Tierney, The Florrie’s Community Hub Co-ordinator and Organiser, explains: “We could not be prouder of last night and how well The Big Guitar In went down. To have so many incredibly talented people in the same room, all playing and singing, is honestly one of the best moments for me - it’s absolutely soul-stirring stuff.”
“We’ve all been rehearsing for weeks to make this happen, and a lot of the people last night have come together through The Florrie’s free guitar classes, which I started nearly a decade ago and have been running ever since.” - Timo Tierney, The Florrie’s Community Hub Co-ordinator and Organiser
He added: “We’ve all been rehearsing for weeks to make this happen, and a lot of the people last night have come together through The Florrie’s free guitar classes which I started nearly a decade ago and have been running ever since. Those classes and every class we have each week, always free for everyone, need urgent support to keep them free moving forward. Simply put, we need more donations from the public to save them.”
The Florrie faces rising utility costs, fewer grants, the ongoing cost-of-living crisis and a rapidly growing number of people needing social support has pushed the Community Classes’ availability to the limit.
The Florrie’s Community Classes are a vital lifeline for the people of their community and wider City region, helping them to learn essential skills, get active, fight social isolation and build new friendships. They also connect people of all backgrounds with wider support from their community across the city.

The Big Guitar-In will return to Liverpool in 2026, and more news will come in spring. The Florrie Guitar Group meets every Tuesday at 6pm, and new members of all abilities are always welcome. You can Donate to The Florrie's official GoFund Page.
