With three shows already announced for this year’s On the Waterfront festival which takes

over Liverpool’s Pier Head this weekend in June, the line up for Friday’s edition has just been announced with an array of Britpop and indie stalwarts guaranteed to deliver a spectacular show on the city’s iconic waterfront.

Leading the charge are Britpop legends Ocean Colour Scene, celebrated for their timeless

classics ‘The Riverboat Song’ and ‘The Day We Caught The Train’ and famed for their rip roaring live shows which boast one of the most life affirming sing-a-longs you’ll ever hear, is testament to their 30 year career. Joining the festivities as chief support are hometown heroes Cast, originally formed from the ashes of two of the most legendary lauded guitar bands of all time - The La’s and Shack, Cast and frontman John Power went on to create their own unique magic, labelled “The Who of the 90’s”, Noel Gallagher once described watching Cast play live as a “religious experience”, and garnering themselves an even bigger fanbase globally with cult classics such as ‘Walk Away’ and ‘Guiding Star’. Next up are Scottish indie rockers The View, Yorkshire five-piece Embrace, technopop trendsetters Republica and Liverpool locals The Sway and Keyside completing the bill.

On the Waterfront which attracted over 45,000 people last year, kick starts the summer with a series of stunning shows and live performances taking place from Thursday the 20th – Sunday the 23rd June 2024. Already announced and kicking things off on Thursday 20th June is the UK’s biggest open-air comedy show with award winning comedian Paul Smith at the helm joined by Hot Water Comedy regulars Jo Jo Sutherland, Mick Ferry and Jamie Hutchinson.
