The Liverpool City Region's rooftop solar provider, Shawton Energy, has entered a new collaborative partnership with electric vehicle charging company, RAW Charging.

RAW is a leading supplier of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure to some of the UK’s largest property owners and organisations, specialising in the hospitality, leisure and retail sectors.

The agreement will see RAW Charging, which has offices in London and Yorkshire, become Shawton Energy’s exclusive EV charging partner, as they look to join forces across a number of projects – including solutions in the retail, property management and leisure spaces.

Adding RAW’s expertise, working with clients such as National Trust, McArthurGlen and Merlin Entertainments, will allow Shawton Energy to broaden its technology offer to customers, providing a more rounded and end-to-end solution. Customers will be able to have complementary solar photovoltaic (PV) technology and EV charging infrastructure installed at the same time – streamlining the process and making it more efficient.

Jamie Shaw, CEO of Shawton Energy, said: 'We are always on the look-out for likeminded businesses to share knowledge and insight with, so we are excited to announce our new partnership with RAW Charging.'

He added: 'We see it as a great fit. RAW share similar values to Shawton and we’re at a similar point in our business trajectories. We are both innovative by nature and large enough to deliver major projects. However, we remain agile enough to quickly onboard the latest technologies and trends.'

Jamie, said: 'Industry collaboration is absolutely fundamental to driving positive change and creating a more integrated energy ecosystem across the UK. The industry’s voice is undeniably stronger when the different green technologies work as a collective.”

Jason Simpson, CEO at RAW Charging, said: 'Jamie and the team at Shawton see the world as we do, which makes them a great partner for RAW at an exciting moment in the energy and mobility transition. Combining our capabilities allows us to install EV and combined EV/distributed energy projects more efficiently – it’s a win-win for all of us.'

Jason added: 'We look forward to working together to deliver a sustainable and green future for drivers and landlords across the UK.'

Headquartered at their 70,000 sq ft site in Newton-le-Willows, Shawton Energy has over 20 years’ experience manufacturing, installing and managing rooftop solar technology.

The business employs over 150 people and last year, following strong year-on-year growth, agreed to sell a 50% stake of the business to major US asset management fund, Lazard Asset Management. The investment has further accelerated Shawton’s growth as they aim to deliver more than £50 million of invested capital in high-quality solar projects over the next five years.
