How Devolution Is Shaping Liverpool: Formation Of The Liverpool City Region & Its Exciting Future

The Liverpool City Region Has Been A Much Needed
Devolution is essentially giving areas in the UK more control to make decisions without the consultation and approval of Central Government in London.
The purpose of this is to give local authorities in the UK greater autonomy and to enable locals to make decisions that will benefit locals as someone in Liverpool will generally have a better understanding of what needs to be done in Liverpool compared to someone in London.
The formation of the Liverpool City Region has been a desperately needed move in a step to unify the city and enable a stable base for long term investment and innovation. Rather than a fragmented approach to governance, devolution enables The Six Boroughs to collaborate and come together in a cohesive manner that will benefit as many residents as possible.
This provides a stable platform for the Liverpool Area and signifies the start of a brighter future for Liverpool. From Government recognition to a more stable global platform, and a more concerted acknowledgement of the City of Liverpool's surrounding Boroughs that have been forgotten about for so long are now being more formally acknowledge in a joint effort to secure the future.
This is a boost that cannot be denied and by embracing The Six Boroughs, the city cannot fail. From Sefton's contributions such as The Iron Men, Aintree Racecourse, Marine FC and housing the community driven City of Liverpool FC.
Wirral's undeniable Scouse Cultural offerings from being the Birthplace of The Beatles, the birthplace and home Liverpudlians such as Dead Or Alive's star Pete Burns born in Port Sunlight and arguably Everton's greatest ever player, Dixie Dean who originally played for Tranmere Rovers, the City Region's third professional football team which is also home to Liverpool FC Women, not to mention the largest collection of Grade 1 List Buildings outside of London's Trafalgar Square.
As well as Knowsley's famous Liverpudlian's such as Steven Gerrard, playwright Willy Russell known for Blood Brothers and Educating Rita, as well as Phil Redmond, one of the most successful producers in the UK, creator of Brookside, Hollyoaks.
