Christmas wishes are coming true in St Helens as the spectacular Christmas pantomime Aladdin has officially opened at the Theatre Royal to rave reviews.

Emmerdale’s Liam Fox makes his professional panto debut as the evil Abanazer, and panto royalty and queen of the airwaves, Leanne Campbell, will appear digitally as the magical Genie of the Mirror.

The seasonal production from acclaimed Panto producers Regal Entertainments is now running at St Helens Theatre Royal until Sunday 14 January 2024. It’s officially their fastest selling panto ever.

'Seeing the children’s faces as they leave has been so rewarding!' - Chantelle Nolan, Theatre Manager & Panto Director.

Take a ride on the all-new 3D interactive flying magic carpet ride this Christmas and be whisked off to pantoland where young street urchin Aladdin lives with his hapless brother Wishee Washee and larger-than-life mum Widow Twankey in their family laundry. Then join our young hero as he battles the wicked Abanazer who has a dastardly plan to rule the world with the help of one very special lamp. Can Aladdin save the day - and can he also win the heart of the fair Princess Jasmine?

Liam Fox and Leanne Campbell are joined by a hugely talented cast, which includes Theatre Royal favourites, Tim Lucas will play Genie of the Lamp, Warren Donnelly is PC Shameless, Lewis Devine is Wishee Washee and Richard Aucott is Widow Twankey, the show also stars newcomers Jess Smith as Princess Jasmine and Alex Aram as Aladdin.

Aladdin is directed by Chantelle Nolan, musical direction by Callum Clarke, choreography by Nazene Langfield and written by Liam Mellor.

Theatre Manager & Panto Director, Chantelle Nolan, said: 'We have been completely overwhelmed by the response to this year’s panto, we still have a month to go and the audience and media response has been fantastic. Aladdin is officially our fastest selling panto ever and we’re absolutely thrilled with the cast this year, it’s without doubt one of our best yet.'

Chantelle added: 'Aladdin is a fantastic adventure story of good triumphing over evil, and it’s a real favourite with the family audiences at St Helens Theatre Royal. Seeing the children’s faces as they leave has been so rewarding!'
